ECMerge compares and merges local/FTP/SCC text/images/folders, side-by-side or 3-way. It provides syntax colouring for many languages, has auto-configured converters for many office and archive format, pretty prints XML. It displays clearly in-line differences and can use them to realize merges. ECMerge can generate Unix patchs, XML/HTML and text or CSV reports. Good replacement for many SCC merge tools. Also runs on Linux, Mac OS X & Solaris.

Version 2.1 build 79 adds Version Control browsing and checkout for CVS, SVN, VSS, Perforce, ionForge Evolution, Code Co-op (checkout only), scripting engine, unix patch import/preview, keyboard shortcuts, together with numerous bug fixes.

The fact is: Software developers today are really designers and not coders. The reason that business anlaysts exist today to model solutions is because they understand the value of designing software before writing it. All too often developers create code that has little value because they do not understand that business classes interact with other classes within the confines of a working model or pattern.
