All of its features are simply variations on the same theme, but if you want a plethora of search options at your fingertips, this Internet Explorer toolbar may be for you. Power Search Tool is aptly named. It installs easily to IE, and while it has a lot of buttons on offer, it seems less cluttered than many of the toolbars we've seen.

In addition to the standard search engine button, an eBay button and an MP3 button are included for specialized searches. There's also a comprehensive image search option with filters for file type, size, and coloration, and a video search button that lets you choose file type, genre, language, and other characteristics. Shoppers will enjoy the bargain hunter search button, which has an extensive drop-down list of shopping categories. If you just can't decide, there's the Split Search feature for searching two engines at the same time. A currency converter, world city time and time zone locater, and a Bible search and compare button round out this toolbar's features.

This freeware toolbar is all about the art of the search. If you frequently find yourself looking for things online, the Power Search Tool will be a welcome addition to Internet Explorer.

Featured Talkback

Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
