The Access 2000 Runtime Security Patch: KB827431 offers the highest levels of stability and security available for Microsoft Access 2000 Runtime. This update addresses a flaw in the Microsoft Access Snapshot Viewer that could allow arbitrary code to run when viewing a maliciously crafted document. This update resolves the vulnerability so that Microsoft Access Snapshot Viewer files are handled appropriately.

Further, this update addresses a flaw in the way Access 2000 Runtime uses Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to check document properties when opening a maliciously crafted document. This flaw could allow arbitrary code to run when a user opened a specially crafted document from an attacker. This update addresses that vulnerability so that files opened using VBA are handled appropriately. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

In association with Intel
Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
