Serenity Countdown 256.0.0.63.25d

License Free
Requirements Windows XP/Vista, Yahoo Widgets Engine
Downloads 53 Limitations None
Publisher zoid de Firefly File Size 128k
Date added 10 Jul 2007 Check your speed

This is a countdown Widget that accepts a user defined date and then, um, counts down to that date. Currently set by default to celebrate the up-coming international "Serenity Day" on June 23, 2006, it displays Misbehavin on Serenity Day in:" and then the days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining until 00:00:01 of the 23rd. (NB: Serenity Day is the day Firefly/Serenity fans -- a.k.a. 'Browncoats' -- plan to orchestrate a massive buy of the movie "Serenity" on DVD to show our support for a sequel, Hurricane Katrina II or no. It is *not* about products for the elderly, nor about a day of mass meditation to find our crown chakras.) Highly configurable and reusable.

User may input message, countdown date (with 'count up' option), and transparency. Permanent changes may be made in the .kon file, in the usual way. (heh-heh). They won't be expectin' this" -Capt. Malcolm Reynolds, Serenity. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
