The Filter is a neat, free piece of software that helps you build fantastic playlists from the music stored on your PC. Its like a musical assistant who knows exactly which songs will fit together and which songs wont. To build a playlist you open up iTunes or Windows Media Player and let The Filter analyse your library. You then click on OCreate a Playlist to generate one based on your choice of artist or song. The music in the playlist comes from the music in your collection it is a great way of rediscovering music you forgot you had! Additional Features: Create playlists of any length that match your mood. Update your iPod with automatically refreshing playlists Get personal music recommendations from the iTunes, eMusic or Amazon stores Share your music tastes on Facebook and MySpace Read information and reviews on the artists you are listening to.

Version 3.1 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
