This program does a good job cleaning up cluttered desktops by temporarily stowing away unused icons, but one downfall may be that it is frustratingly difficult to remove. Desktop Closet has a functional, easy-to-use interface that lets users quickly remove icons that are not typically shown on Windows desktop.

Desktop Closet does what it promises, quickly placing all your icons in a "closet" and easily restoring them back on the desktop. It also can save and recall your icons' original position. What's more, the program restores Windows' default wallpaper, making your desktop look clean and organized. Desktop Closet can be run at startup and docks on the system tray; however, the ability to clean and restore desktop icons with hot keys would've been beneficial.

Desktop Closet's trial version doesn't include an uninstall feature and can be difficult to remove. With its efficient performance, however, you won't have to. Anyone who wants a quick desktop do-over will find Desktop Closet a handy addition to his/her system.

In association with Intel
Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
