Barca has more under the hood and less junk in the trunk than bigger e-mail-management programs. The personal information manager includes a calendar, a to-do list, a contacts list, and perfunctory e-mail filters and search. The Notes section stores plain-text jottings, while the Diary stores lengthier documents and allows formatting. The error log helps you figure out problems with your e-mail accounts. To circumvent service providers' maximum-recipient limits, the program can split large lists into smaller chunks. We also like the ability to trigger other programs using the calendar's reminder function. The interface looks familiar but works differently, hiding a number of features in right-click context menus rather than nested menu-bar windows. The program even includes a built-in scripting language for advanced mail processing and handling. At less than 6MB of memory consumption even when downloading e-mails, Barca makes a tempting replacement for Web-mail accounts.
