Using the same icons, cursors, and wallpaper is like having houseguests overstay their welcome. IconForge lets you give your desktop a new personality with icons and cursors created from scratch or from existing images. This simple-to-master program employs tools common to many basic paint programs. IconForge is designed to work with small graphics, so every modification is made at the pixel level. Pixel by pixel, we were able to easily create icons from scratch using a full set of painting tools, patterns, and effects filters. Although it lacks a history panel, which would let you select from a list of previously performed actions to revert to a specific point, we found the utility packed with tools that made the creation process a snap. In addition to its basic function, IconForge comes with several other tool functions. ImageForge edits larger images prior to importing; ActivIcons places animated icons on your desktop; and Distribute Icons lets you pack icons into an installer file. Anyone looking to spruce up his or her PC can benefit from this program.

In association with Intel
Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
