This easy-to-use application creates a schedule of prayer and fasting times and provides other features for those of Islamic faith, though it lacks an attractive design. Use the basic interface to specify your country and city (or give specific latitude and longitude information if your location is not on the preloaded list), and Salat Almanac will assign prayer times for the day and month and create a fasting schedule. The application also includes names for Allah in Arabic with English translation and gives a view of the Qibla, or the direction you should turn for prayers. While you can print the monthly and yearly prayer calendars, the output was bland. Although it downloads as a Pocket PC application, it works fine on PCs. With an abundance of features, Salat Almanac would be a welcome addition to Islamic users desiring detailed prayer-scheduling capabilities.

In association with Intel
Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
