Check your speedxRC allows you to map your joystick's or gamepad's buttons into keyboard input, but it does more than just that, it also allows buttons to be mapped to certain functions, such as shutting down the system, or making it go to sleep, it can simulate alt+tab to allow you to switch applications and you can even change mapping profiles from the remote, allowing you to control other applications without requiring you to walk up to the computer.
