This free application places a snow globe on your desktop, but has limited uses. In a nutshell, Silvas Digital Snowglobe can be used for fun, decorative purposes or as a calendar and clock. The program doesn't include a help file, nor does it need one since the small, animated snow globe also has limited customization options. It downloads with two available snow scenes, and you can download others from the publisher's Web site. You can change the globe's size, shake up the snow using your mouse, and drag and drop the globe anywhere on your desktop. Silvas Digital Snowglobe attempts to give the effect of a real snow globe by displaying a distorted view of any items seen through the globe. If you're looking for a cheerful way to display the date and time, you'll enjoy this utility's diminutive efforts.

In association with Intel
Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
