Album Shaper 2.1

Editors Rating

Requirements Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP
Downloads 19 Limitations None
Publisher Will Stokes File Size 6.5M
Date added 05 May 2005 Check your speed

A simple-to-use photo album creator, Album Shaper is well-suited to beginning digital photographers, but likely will disappoint those with designer ambitions.

The program installs and loads simply, supporting a wide variety of languages. Its interface is well-designed, and should present few hurdles even to the most tech-phobic users. Once images are loaded, they can be edited, rotated or flipped, or enhanced with features such as brightness, red-eye removal, and histogram manipulation. Albums can be annotated with a name, description and author.

However, the program suffers a bit when it comes to album design, with few options for changing layout. This can give the resulting products an amateurish air unworthy of the program's otherwise user-friendly feel. On the whole, we'd recommend the software to users who want a hassle-free way to organize and display photos, but experienced photographers and designers likely will want more power.

In association with Intel
Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
