Stuffit Standard Edition Updater 8.0.2

StuffIt Standard Edition 8.0.2 for OS X Users: The StuffIt Standard 8.0.2 update includes a number of changes that improve the stability of StuffIt Deluxe, and offers improved compatibility with Mac OS 10.3 "Panther". StuffIt Expander 8.0 caused a problem whereby applications would not run if they were expanded from archive formats that do not preserve UNIX file permissions. In earlier versions of StuffIt Expander, this problem did not occur because the UNIX "execute" permission was set on all files as they were expanded. StuffIt 8.0.2 restores that feature. However, if you are certain that you do not want the ?execute? permissions set, you can tell StuffIt Expander not to alter UNIX file permissions when expanding non-UNIX compatible file formats. This can be done in StuffIt Expander preferences by un-checking the box that says "Set execute permissions by default?. The StuffIt X (.sitx) format does support UNIX file permissions, results in the best compression, protects files from damage, and is therefore the recommended compression format for archiving. StuffIt Expander 8.0.2 includes a number of changes designed to better support Zip archives created by Mac OS X 10.3 "Panther". If a file being archived with Panther zip compression contains a resource fork and/or Finder information, those parts of the file are stored in a separate folder at the root of the archive. StuffIt will now correctly combine a data fork with its associated resource fork and Finder information as it is being expanded

Featured Talkback

Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
